We are excited to announce the launch of our start-up company Unlock Innovation Limited and have posted a short survey on our new evolving site https://lnkd.in/gsdYC_Ji Unlock Innovation Limited
Unlock Innovation Limited’s mission is to help organisations literally unlock hidden talent within.
I am a relatively recent member of the dyslexic club. Like many others I had no idea. When faced with the truth I was immediately uncomfortable with the word dyslexia as the prefix “dys” indicating a lack of something. It does not address the fact that what dyslexic people bring is something we need more of in the race to face up to society’s many challenges.
I recently interviewed the head of people and culture from one of our partnering companies. It was thrilling to hear of her speak of discovering talent that speaks to their need for creativity, big picture thinking and questioning the status quo. The effect this is having on their overall company growth is significant.
She spoke of another dyslexic employee, from a different company, who compared his experience of dyslexia to drowning in a swimming pool and being made to feel that his cries for help were ruining other people’s enjoyment.
I’m not suggesting that dyslexia alone is the answer to our innovation challenge.
Neurodiverse people of all “codes” cannot function well alone. It is a question of balancing two broad skillsets, that of creativity and big-picture thinking with organisational skills – completer finishers.
Mutual respect and understanding are what we are aiming to create, as we move in uncertain times that cannot be served well by repeating the same solutions.
